David Kelly, MIACP, BSc. (Hons), BA. (Hons)

David Kelly MIACP, BSc. (Hons), BA. (Hons) is a psychotherapist and counsellor and fully accredited member (M15291) of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

David maintains a private practice at The Healing House in Dublin 7 and at City Therapy in Dublin city centre, working psychodynamically with clients to identify and change the psychological patterns underlying a range of mental health concerns.

Previously, David worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the low-cost PCI Counselling Service and the charity Dyspraxia Ireland, where he had the opportunity to work with individuals in both long-term and short-term psychotherapy and counselling. David is also a Client Care Counsellor at Spectrum.Life, working with clients in an EAP setting.

David is a published researcher and speaker, with work appearing in the peer-reviewed journal, Psychodynamic Practice. His research investigated the psychodynamics of compulsive scrolling, making novel contributions to the psychoanalytic literature. David presented this research at the IACP Research Conference 2025.

David is also an Associate Lecturer at PCI College, where he lectures on theories of psychotherapy and counselling. Additionally, he supports students as a Student Development and Progression Officer. Previously, David served as the PCI Counselling Service Co-Ordinator, conducting screening assessments and referrals, offering guidance to students, managing venues, and assisting in the promotion and expansion of the service.

David graduated from PCI College with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy with First-Class Honours. The training is based on a Humanistic-Integrative framework and incorporates modalities such as humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic. In September 2025, he began a MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Trinity College Dublin, which leads to further accreditation with the Irish Council of Psychotherapy (ICP) and Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (IFPP).
